Kimballs – Jaffrey and Lancaster

Brrrrrr!!! Cold! Well, for some of us anyway, like me & Jeanne! But for Manny, it was just another beach day! Had a great time even though I was chilled to the bone for the entire day, even with all the layers of clothing I had on. There were 12 riders on 10 bikes. We left Bikeworx just after 10AM and, after a stop at the DD in Harvard, we continued on to Kimball’s in Jaffrey for a nice lunch. We then headed to, where else but Kimball’s in Lancaster for desert and some friendly conversation. Ray & I had to depart early to get home in time for babysitting duty. Hope you all had a safe, enjoyable ride home.

And hoping we will get a few warmer weather days sprinkled in thoughout the fall.

I will second that! We had a great turn out for the ride and it was nice to see Chuck back with us.

For some reason Chuck has decided that he wants to join our band of merry men and women so we can take a vote at next months meeting. Chuck has meet all the requirements and he is a good rider and has fast become a good friend to all of us.

Munds, we all miss you and Doreen and can not wait until you both are chasing rainbows with us again.

STAR 291 Vet Ride

We had a great day today for a ride. Jerry, Fran, Ray, Stan, and I meet up at Bikeworx and decided we would head over and join 291 on there veteran’s ride. We meet up with 291 at Motorsport and then rode over to the veteran’s quarters they support in Shrewsbury. We had lunch with some of the residents and then headed over to Kimball’s Ice Cream on Rte 70 in Lancaster. Shortly after our arrival, Jerry had to leave to rescue Danna who had misplaced her keys. The sad part was Jerry was only two customer’s away from the window:((( After having our fill of ice cream, we said our goodbyes and headed home.

All and all a great day of food, ice cream and friends.

We enjoyed the ride, as well. Good weather and good friends made for a very nice day.
And about the ice-cream at Kimball’s………..I still don’t know what size kid they are thinking of when they scoop out those kiddie size portions!!!! =-O

A big thank you to those members of 239 who were able to rearrange their plans and join us yesterday at the shelter in Shrewsbury.
As you well know from your own efforts, these heroes are the most appreciative guys on the planet.

Great ride today! Mara Rúbia and I had a lot of fun, as usual. Great roads, great weather, great friends, great food, too much ice cream. Like usual.

Mt. Greylock Ride

It was a good day for a ride and we certainly had a great one today. We met at Bikeworx for an 8:30 AM departure. Chuck Jensen joined us for his first ride with the chapter. And dropping in at the last moment was former member, Doug Holmes. The weather could not have been more perfect. We had 15 people on 12 bikes. The trip out to North Adams was fabulous. Munds lead us on a super ride that we all totally enjoyed. The hairpin turns were awesome. Wish there were more of them. Spent some quality time on Mt. Greylock, took in the views, then mounted up and headed back down the mountain. More hairpin turns. Can’t get enough of those hairpin turns! Gassed up for the return trip, then Munds headed us over to the Moonlight Diner for lunch. Doug took the lead for the ride back on Rte 116. Lots of curves, lots of fun. Got to Ware (where?) and stopped at an ice-cream place that was tucked back off the road. By this time, we were all getting pretty weary – and saddle sore! Said our goodbyes at that point. Left as a group and one by one peeled off to head for our own homes.
It was a very long day. It was a very long ride. It was also a very, very enjoyable time spent with a great circle of friends!

WOW What a day the weather was outstanding the company was fabulous and the ride was Great. It was my first attempt at being your Ride Captain it was so nice having the C.B.’S all working today it made it that much easier.

Those roads out on RT 2 were great the views were just as good and riding up mount Greylock was a treat and those hairpin turns WOW.

I’m glad everyone like the ride and if it’s voted in next year I would be more than happy to be your R.C. again.

I also would like to say a BIG thanks to Doug for taking the lead on the way home that RT 116 was beautiful it gave me an idea for a new ride for our ride calendar next year.

5th Annual Vet Ride

I would like to personally thank EVERYONE who participated in todays ride for the Veterans. The weather was FANTASTIC!!! but more important is the friends who made this event the success it turned out to be. For those of you who did not attend, you missed a great day, great food and music. Veterans within our area will benefit greatly from your generous support! Thank you SO very much for your generocity.

Thank you to Bikeworx for allowing us to hold our event on site. It worked out so great, we had plenty of room to put up the canopies and awnings and plenty of room for the bikes and for customers too. What a great day it was! Another year behind us!

This was a GREAT DAY. The weather was perfect. So many thanks to be said, the Sheriffs Dept., Galand and the whole Bikeworx crew, OGR Donny with his great sound system, Tracy and Peter helping DJ on the grill, ALL the Chapter 239 members pitching in from start to finish, what an awesome group we have.Thanks to all the members from other Chapters for their support. Thanks every one !! Oh, and thanks to the train, that was so cool.

What a great day!!!

I have windburn to prove it! There was well over 200 bikes in todays ride. And thank God, no issues on the road at all. The ride lasted about an hour and a half or so….and ended up at the Eagles lodge in Leominster just off Rte. 12. There was more BBQ than anyone could handle and live music all day…raffle prizes and a 50/50 with a take home of nearly $500.

Now its time to let the bikes cool, take off the riding boots, and put on something a bit more comfy for just sitting and watching TV.

See you all at this month’s meeting…and for those headed to Americade….See you all next week!

Steaming Tender

Hey Everyone,
This was my first time going to Steaming Tender. REALLY nice place. Food was really good and very reasonably price. I look forward to going there again. To Ray, our road captain, that was an awesome ride route out. Our group today was small but, as always, the friendship amongst us shined as always. Even though we got rained on, again, on our return trip. As always, Jerry and Munds did a great job watching our backs. Thanks for a wonderful day everyone.

First Ride 2011 – Vanilla Bean

I want to thank everyone for a great day of good fun and riding. What a turn out for our first ride of the season. I think almost eveyone in the chapter made it for the ride today. The weather was pretty good for most of the day. I was sunny and warm all the way to the VB and it rained while we ate, indoors. By the time we were done the rain had stopped and we started home. We hit some wet roads and a brief shower but we out ran that one as well. I did not hit rain again until Hopington by the State Park but it was just a brief shower. Sorry there were not any rainbows.

Jack, thanks for helping me out and bing the Road Captain for most of the day.

I would like all the tail gunners, Munds, Bob B. and Danny to send me an email to let me know what they observed from the back of the ride. I am interested in ways to improve our ride so things like hand signals being or not being used would be of interest to me. How did we did we do as a group, intervals, stagger, things like that as well.

I thought having Manny up front with his CB and Munds in the back with his CB worked out well but I would be interested in what others thought of the idea.

Again, thanks to everyone for a great day and for making our chapter one of the best in Star.

Hey Everyone,
We had a good turnout for our first ride of the season. It was a warm, sunny day to start out. The weather was nice all the was down to Connecticut. The way home was a different story. We had it all thrown at us today. The only thing missing was the rainbow. I think those were more than just sun showers on the way home. We certainly lucked out by choosing to eat indoors at the Vanilla Bean. What was it, maybe ten minutes after we sat down and the sky opened up and by the time we finished it had stopped. Most of us decided to “rainpant up ” before leaving. Good choice considering we had blue skies, with clouds, and sunshine and RAIN ! By the time we reached Rendezvous it had stopped. After saying good byes I made it home in time to get the lawn mowed before it started raining here. My wife said it had not rained here all day. But it followed me home enough where I had just about finished and it started to rain.
Anyway, THANKS EVERYONE for what was still a GREAT day with GREAT friends !

We also had a great time today. Thanks, Jack for a real nice route to the Vanilla Bean. After we left the Rendezvous, Ray & I got caught in the rain on Rt 146. We ducked in to the Xtra Mart to wait out the heavy downpour, thunder and lightning. Peter was there, too and waited inside for a while with us. We left together once it looked to be pretty much over. It did still rain on and off for the rest of our ride home. Sterling was dry and didn’t get the rain until after we pulled into our garage. Glad we kept our rain suits on!

It was nice to shake off the cob webs with our first Chapter ride of the season.Wayne and Jack did a great job leading us through some nice roads even with the rain I enjoyed the ride.I would like to thank Danny for helping me out with Tailgunning duty.Danny I’ll ride in the back of the group with you any day.I think we have a tailgunner in the making.I also would like to thank Manny for being my eyes and ears in the front of the pack I thought it worked out great with the C.B.”S.
